Here we have a massive compilation of quotes taken verbatim.  It’s absolutely amazing that such specific details match up so closely; let’s take the creature’s figure for instance.  Almost every visual account of the Jersey Devil contains a standing creature, with a face similar to that of a horse.  Most accounts also show that the wings were similar to a bat’s in makeup.  Now, when we examine the cases where the sighting took place at a very short distance, almost everyone has noticed 1 thing, in that the wings actually have small feathers or scales of some type.  We wouldn’t expect people at a distance to notice such things, and they certainly haven’t.  Let’s take all descriptions of the front arms, and we see that each and every time the descriptions will match to a T.  The front arms are like a kangaroo’s or monkey’s; mammalian in nature.  Its neck is always long, and its ears always pointy.  As for the back legs, they are scraggly and short; all but once it was noted that the creature has hooves for feet.  Its eyes are normally reported to be red, but there have been several cases of green and even yellow eyes as well as brown or black (this is the one single thing that seems to consistently vary in sighting reports).  Its horns are always short, and its tail always long like a lizard.  The most prominent feature of the Jersey Devil is that of its cries.  Considering all known reports, I will summarize the descriptions by saying that it creates an extremely loud but horse shrieking noise, almost mechanical in nature.  I quote a witness to the shrieking noise on 2 occassions “Once you hear it, you never forget it. Nor can you explain it.”  As for its behavioral traits, it’s not vicious towards people in that this creature has never been documented to physically come into contact with a human.  It may have a fear of itself, and/or anything standing on two legs.  Though following a common animal trait, it rarely misses a chance to threaten/scare its witness before fleeing (quite logical).  Regarding that, it often charges and then takes to the air at the last instant, flying off and producing its signature cry.  The Jersey Devil has been seen doing a number of different things, although normally nothing more than taking notice to its witness and most accounts show that this is a curious creature by nature.  It sneaks across people’s backyards, peers through windows, you name it. 

The most important thing that needs to be understood about this area of the site is that the majority of these descriptions are phenomenally similar, building a powerful case.  This is absolutely not one of those circumstances where people are fabricating tall tales, things flow far too logically for that.  Almost every conceivable shred of information leads to the fact that there is something physically in these woods.  The problem, is figuring out what it is.  This page, is a step in that direction.  As more sightings are reported this area will be updated, along with the Sightings area.  Read on....
