Fire Connection–

The Jersey Devil may have some sort of an infatuation with fire, often making an appearance in the vicinity of open flames.  Although, it seems as though it avoids heat, as it is rarely seen on warm days and was only sighted three times ever in August (the warmest month of the year).  See climate information in the Snow and Climate oddity.
