Leeds Point-
Something people from outside New Jersey don't often understand, is that the town of Leeds point was never really much of a town at all. It was a small cluster of homes built less than 10 miles outside of Atlantic City. For most residents Leeds Point is actually synonymous with a town called Smithville, located less than 2 miles down the road.
One of its first prominent settlers named Jacob Parker sought to build a dam, grismill, etc. Parker took all the proper steps with officials to build the dam but neighbors were not impressed. For more than 20 years he was seen in court repetatively. There were arguments over flooding and pond water rights. Eventually, a dam was constructed and it can be seen in present day. As the years passed, a store, school, barn, stables, smoke and slaughter houses, 50 houses for workers, and of course, a mansion were all standing proudly erected. Names changed often, but obviously its now known as Smithville for the man named Hezekiah Bradley Smith who developed it greatly. In the past, it was reported the entire town had shut down because the Smithville Inn (the center of the town) closed down when its owner unexpectedly died. However, present day Smithville is still quite active and it's a bit of a tourist town. There are said to be over 60 shops there. More information on Leeds Point is coming in the next update.

Directions to Leeds Point: These directions are quite similar to the Shourds House directions. From the Garden State Parkway, exit on route 9 and take that south. When you come to Smithville turn left onto E. Moss Mill road. Continue on this road until it bears a hard left. Hammock drive begins on the right, and this is the general vicinity of the cluster of homes called "Leeds Point".
