Cougars-

While driven out of the state in the very early 1900’s (1921 to be exact), there is still a slight chance that a select few may exist. Prior to 1921 they occupied only a small range in the northern section of the state.  Being fierce as they are, they may be responsible for many south Jersey livestock killings. These creatures have been sighted multiple times on the eastern outskirts of Washington D.C. in the past decade, only a hundred miles from the Pine Barrens.

Pros – As mentioned above, they may be responsible for livestock killings when no “Jersey Devil” was seen in the vicinity.  Cougars can run quite fast, and they climb trees just as the Jersey Devil has been reported in doing.  These creatures are abnormally sneaky and elusive, which makes them one of the few animals that could exist in an area and rarely be seen.  Their tracks could be mistaken for cloven hoof prints by those not in the know.

Cons – They can’t fly, they have no horns, and felines don’t stand on their back legs let alone run standing upright.
